Amateur Radio on your Smartphone

As most of the club members have noticed the Echolink node for the club has been down for a little while, but why not prepare yourself for when it is back up and download the Echolink app for your smartphone!  Never miss out on a club or ARES net again, with the Echolink app you can log onto the repeater wherever you have cell phone or wifi access.  Another smartphone app that I have found useful is called "Repeater Book" and it is also available for free to download and use.  Repeater Book will search your immediate area using GPS to give you information on all locally available repeaters in your area.  It lists the distance from you to the repeater and offers additional information for PL tone and non-standard shift.  There are a whole list of other smartphone applications that can be used in conjunction with Amateur Radio to enhance the experience.
